Advancing Financial Inclusion in Sarawak with ‘Bayar Jak’

At Shoraka Group, expanding access to ethical and inclusive financial solutions remains at the core of what we do. Through our subsidiary, Shoraka Kenyalang Sdn Bhd (SKSB), we are proud to introduce Bayar Jak—an all-in-one Islamic fintech liquidity platform developed in collaboration with Koperasi Pelabuhan Bintulu Berhad (Kopela).

This strategic partnership marks a significant step forward in bringing Earned Wage Access (EWA) services to cooperative members in Sarawak. With Bayar Jak, employees can access a portion of their earned wages in real time—anytime before payday—giving them greater financial control and flexibility.

Designed to promote financial inclusion, Bayar Jak offers a seamless integration with existing employer payroll systems. Through a secure and user-friendly digital platform, employees can track and withdraw their accrued earnings as needed. This not only improves day-to-day cash flow management but also reduces reliance on high-interest loans and unregulated lending sources.

More than just a wage access solution, Bayar Jak represents a growing ecosystem of Shariah-compliant financial services. As part of our long-term roadmap, we are actively expanding the platform to include digital invoice financing solutions for SMEs, as well as tailored private credit facilities for civil servants. These initiatives align closely with the ambitions of the Sarawak Digital Economy Blueprint 2030, supporting sustainable economic development across the region.

Operated by SKSB—a member of the Sarawak Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI)—Bayar Jak reflects a shared commitment between Shoraka and Kopela to enhance financial well-being at both individual and community levels. Kopela, as the cooperative arm of Bintulu Port Holdings Berhad, plays a vital role in supporting the welfare and economic participation of its members, many of whom are part of the port’s workforce.

Through Bayar Jak, we aim to empower not only individuals, but also local businesses and SMEs across Sarawak. By providing accessible, Shariah-compliant financial solutions, we are helping to build a more resilient and financially secure ecosystem—one that offers a safer and more sustainable alternative to predatory lending practices.
